The first day dedicated to the water park portion, and the second day to the dry ride portion. We learned real quick that we could of done the whole park in less than 1 day.
A 14 acre park isn't a big enough area to really do the job. There were some good moments. Like the first time my son saw the characters. Seeing them also became a challange. They are put in areas of the park for a quick meet and picture take. When they fist arrive in there designated area, a line quickly forms to take pictures. Apparently there's a time limit to the out in the park meet a greet, because out of the 6 times we stood in line to meet, only 2 times were we able to actually take a picture with the character.
The other times we ended up being the next in line when they were personnally escorted out of the public area.
Sesame Place Travel Tips
We begged and pleaeded for a quick meet, and was ignored by the individuals escorting them off. I soon relized that this must be their way of forcing individuals to purchase the meet and greet meals in order to spend more time with them. As with most amusement parks the food costs were out of control.
If we had to choose over and your child is not a huge lover of the Sesame Street characters I would have gone to the must larger amusement park that's about 30 min to the north-east of Sesame Place named Great Adventure. They are presently offering a buy 1 get one free deal on tickets, and there would have been much more to do. Live and Learn. Our family visited Sesame Place in the summer of Our three girls were 4, 8 and I can honestly say that every one of us enjoyed ourselves. Our favorite ride was the Vapor Trail. It's a roller coaster designed with the younger set in mind, but it packs a punch for even the parents!
We all loved it and rode it dozens of times that day! We visted on a week day and the lines were short. The longest wait was for the giant family inner tube ride that was awesome! The food is good, not too bad price wise. There are many sit down shows that are included in your admission. A good way to take a break from the sun while enjoying a snack. The park was clean. A great vacation for anyone who loves themselves a Sesame character - and who doesn't?
Went the second week in June Monday 8th and Wednesday 10th with our 4 year old son and 2 year old daughter and had an amazing trip. It was by far the highlight of our one week vacation and the reason we chose to visit the area. It was a beautiful park. Blooming flowers everywhere.
Super clean. While it was raining the bathroom floor was a bit muddy, but the next time I went in it was all cleaned up. The perfect size for preschoolers. They piped Sesame music through the sound system and my daughter would just break out singing and dancing all the time. My kids stayed happy from the minute we arrived opening or earlier till we left closing and without naps both days. We let them spend as long as they wanted at all of the play areas. There wasn't a single moment where they weren't having a blast.
I can see how it might not be as positive an experience in the heat with more crowds, but the second week of June was wonderful. There were short lines during the day and none in the evenings. The ticket cost wasn't as bad once you spread it over 2 days. Character Meals: We had breakfast with the characters the first day, and it was well worth it. The food was average buffet breakfast food, but it was great to start the trip with all of the characters.
We were the first ones in, so the kids got to spend quality time with each character and then while eating all of the characters made rounds to the tables. We saw a lot of the characters walking around the park and at the parades, but the breakfast was a really great way to spend time with them all and a great way to start the trip.
You get in before the park opens, so you still get a full day in the park.
Once the park opened, there were no lines for the first 45 minutes, since most people were still going through entry and we were already inside. On Wednesday, we had dinner with the characters. I went to guest relations outside the gate right as the park opened and was able to transfer the reservation. Lunch on Wednesday was booked, but they allowed me to pay the difference to get dinner on Wednesday. Dinner was good. The food was much better than the breakfast.
Dinner was the same characters as breakfast plus Cookie Monster. It interrupted our water fun to have to stop, dry off and change to be ready for dinner at 5. Parade: The spot where the blue meets the black is really the best spot for the parade. The parade stops twice along the parade route and only moves when going from each spot to the next.
The front stops there for the first "show" and then the end stops there for the second. So, you get to see the characters at the front and the back and the parade is twice as long for you. We watched the parade all 4 times it passed during our 2 days there. The kids loved it. Only once did we go early and plan out a spot the one time we saw it where the blue met the black.

The other times the kids saw it coming, so we wandered over there as it was passing and caught it wherever we happened to be. At the parade we saw all of the breakfast and park characters plus Telly, Rosita, and Prairie Dawn. For water rides, she could do Slimey's Chutes, all of the slides in Count's Splash Castle, and the Sky Splash which is the largest slide, but it's a family raft. Plus the wave pool, lazy river, rubber ducky pond. Then all of the dry rides, play areas, 3 shows, and the parade. There was more than enough to keep her busy and happy for the 2 days that we were there.
My four year old could do every ride in the park. Clothing: I would recommend wearing a swimsuit under your clothes rather than having to change and water shoes are really a must for the kids.
